Barbados
Visit or Stay for a While
Barbados is a picturesque eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Bridgetown, the capital, is where 1/3 of the population lives and is a cruise-ship port with colonial buildings. Around the island are beaches, botanical gardens, the Harrison’s Cave formation, and 17th-century plantation houses like St. Nicholas Abbey. Local traditions include afternoon tea and cricket, the national sport.

In addition to the many nautical activities that visitors can take part in, from parasailing to kayaking, fishing, and scuba diving, Barbados is also home to the annual Carnival festival, as well as plenty of great nightlife. Despite being classified as an Atlantic island, Barbados is the easternmost island in the Lower Antilles and is considered to be a part of the Caribbean, where it is ranked as a leading tourist destination.

Currently very welcoming to tourists looking to stay long-term, Barbados has implemented work-from-home programs for Americans that wish to live and work and Barbados for a year.
